The Cardiac Arrhythmia Service helps people who have heart rhythm problems. We work with patients to diagnose, assess and manage their condition.
We see patients in our outpatient clinics and through telemedicine. Telemedicine is a service for patients who live outside the Greater Toronto Area. It allows patients to get service from our experts by video conference from their local hospital or clinic.
Our specialty clinics include:
- A clinic for patients with pacemakers
- A clinic for patients with defibrillators
- A clinic for patients with atrial fibrillation
- An assessment clinic for people who may need an implantable defibrillator or a pacemaker
- A general arrhythmia clinic for all other heart rhythm disorders
Our service also provides advanced diagnostic testing and procedures at St. Michael’s Hospital. These procedures include catheter ablation, and implanting a pacemaker or defibrillator.
We strive to see our patients in a very timely manner. We carefully review all referrals within 48 hours. This ensures that those who need our services urgently are seen quickly.
