Specimen HandlingCollection Instructions: Collect sample in gold or red top tube with or without gel separator. Collect baseline serum specimen (>8h fast), separate and label 2 mL aliquot. Administer Xylose dissolved in 250 mL water followed by another 250 mL water. Collect post-dose serum at 1hr. Test may be conducted with either a 5g or 25g Xylose dose. Write your initials, date and time of collection on the collection label. Laboratory Staff Instructions Separate and label 2 mL aliquot. Store and send specimens frozen. Specimens must be clearly labelled to distinguish baseline and timed (1 Hour) specimen. Rejection Criteria: Grossly hemolyzed, lipemic or microbially contaminated specimens, Unlabeled or Not Sufficient Quantity Samples will be rejected. Stability:Stable refrigerated for 7 days and Frozen for 30 days. Transportation: Send sample to core lab as soon as possible. |
