Specimen HandlingCollection Instructions: Collect in 1 lavender top tubes (EDTA). Protect sample from light. Ensure sample is labelled both inside and outside the foil wrapper. Write your initials, date and time of collection on the collection label. Laboratory Staff Instructions: Do not spin sample. Protect from light. Transfer to amber vial and freeze immediately (within 1 hours of collection). Store and send frozen. Rejection Criteria: Not protected from light, unlabeled or samples of non sufficient quantity Stability: Stable at room temperature for 2 days, refrigerated for 1 week and frozen for 7 months. Transportation: Transport on ice to core lab as soon as possible. |
