Specimen Handling

Collection Instructions: Collect sample in lavender top (EDTA). Protect specimen from light. Specimen must be labelled inside and outside light-protecting wrap. Write your initials, date and time of collection on the collection label or requisition.

Laboratory Staff Instructions: Separate and freeze within 1 hour and send frozen. Thawing of samples should be avoided

Rejection Criteria: Gel separator, not protected from light grossly hemolyzed and icteric samples, Unlabeled or Not Sufficient Quantity samples.

Stability: Stable for 2 months frozen.

Transportation: Send sample to core lab protected from light as soon as possible.
