Gold Tube Specimen Type / Requirements

Adult

Container Type = Serum: 1 Gold, Red or Green (Li-Hep) top.

Minimum Testing Volume = 1mL Serum or plasma

Tubes must fill to at least ½ or greater of its vacuum capacity

Pediatric:

0-2 years: Red 0.5 Microtainer

2-10 yrs: 1 mL Red top

Specimen Handling

Collection Instructions: Collect sample in a red, gold top or greep (Lithium Heparin) tube with or without gel separator. Write your initials, date and time of collection on the collection label.

Laboratory Staff Instructions: Separate and freeze immediately. Store and send frozen.

Stability: Stable frozen for 3 months.

Rejection Criteria: Not frozen, unlabeled or samples of non sufficient quantity.

Transportation: Send samples to core laboratory as soon as possible.
