Specimen Handling

Collection Instructions: Random urine collected in red top vacutainer or sterile urine container.

Write your initials, date and time of collection on the collection label.

Stability: Urine stable for 4 days at room temperature or refrigerated and frozen at -15°C to -20°C for 2 weeks.

Laboratory Staff Instructions: Centrifuge to remove cellular material. Random urine and 24 h urine collected without preservative. pH must be adjusted to > 8.0. If pH is less than or equal to 8.0, adjust pH to > 8.0 by adding 1 M NaOH.

Sample Rejection Criteria: Avoid leaking specimens and/or Non sufficient Quantity (Not Sufficient Quantity)
