Specimen HandlingCollection Instructions: Ensure both sample and requisition are labelled properly. To assess anaphylaxis, collect specimen between 15-180 minutes after suspected anaphylactic event. To assess systemic mastocytosis or mast cell activation syndrome, collect the specimen at any time. Write your initials, date and time of collection on the collection label. Laboratory Staff Instructions Separate as soon as possible. Store and send frozen. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles. Rejection Criteria: Multiple freeze/thaw unacceptable, grossly hemolyzed, or lipemic, Unlabeled or Not Sufficient Quantity Samples will be rejected. Stability: Stable refrigerated for 7 days and frozen for 30 days. Transportation: Send sample to core lab as soon as possible. |
