Specimen HandlingCollection Instructions: Serum or EDTA or heparinized plasma collected with or without gel separator. Samples for triglycerides are only valid when collected after a 12 to 14 h fast. A heavy lipid meal before the fast should be avoided. Write your initials, date and time of collection on the collection label or requisition. Special Instructions Separate serum or plasma from cells within 2 hours of collection Rejection Criteria: Gross hemolysis, lipemic Unlabeled or Not Sufficient Quantity Samples will be rejected. Stability: Triglycerides are stable at room temperature for 8 hours, refrigerated for 1 week and for 1 month at -15°C to -20°C. Transportation: Send sample to core lab as soon as possible. |
