Specimen HandlingCollection Instructions: Collect 1 gold tube top(SST). Invert sample 6-8 times after collection to ensure sample is well mixed. Write your initials, date and time of collection on the collection label or requisition. Laboratory Staff Instructions If thyroid monitoring is ordered, use codes ATG. and TG. Separate serum or plasma from cells within 2 hours of collection Rejection Criteria: Gross hemolysis, unlabeled or samples of non sufficient quantity. Stability: Stable for 3 days at room temperature, refrigerated 1 week and frozen 1 months Transportation: Send sample to core lab as soon as possible. |

Test UtilizationIn case Thyroglobulin (TG) and Anti-thyroglobulin (ATG.) are ordered together, TG will be cancelled automatically in the LIS and (ATG.) will be tested only. If the (ATG.) is >50 a Thyroglobulin will be re-added automatically. |
