Specimen HandlingCollection Instructions: Collect sample in gold top (SST) or red top tube. Write your initials, date and time of collection on the collection label or requisition. Laboratory Staff Instructions: Serum should be separated from cells within 1 hour. Once seperated, sample should be frozen until time of testing. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Rejection criteria: Plasma, grossly lipemic, grossly hemolysed, mislabeled or samples of non sufficient quantity. Stability: Stable at room temperature for 7 hours, refrigerated for 6 days and frozen for 12 months. Transportation: Send sample to core lab as soon as possible. |
