Specimen HandlingCollection Instructions: Collect in a lavender top tube (EDTA). Patient must be fasting for 12 Hours or more. For infants, collect specimen just before next feeding. Write your initials, date and time of collection on the collection label. Please note: Specimen must be centrifuged, aliquoted and a frozen (Plasma) within 30 minutes of collection. Laboratory Staff Instructions: Centrifuge in a refrigerated centrifuge. Separate plasma from cells, store and send frozen. Sample can be sent with the PDS courier. If the specimen thaws it is unsuitable for analysis. Rejection Criteria: Whole blood, thawed samples, Serum or heparinized plasma samples Stability: Stable at room temperature or refrigerated for 30 minutes and frozen for 30 days. Transportation: Send sample to core lab immediately after collection. |
