Specimen HandlingCollection Instructions: Collect sample in a lavender top and send to core lab. Sample should be well mixed at time of collection to prevent platelet clumping. Write your initials, date and time of collection on the collection label. Stability: Reticulocyte count should be done within 24 hours if stored at room temperature and 72 hours if stored at 2 to 8°C due to in vitro maturation Transportation: Transport at room temperature as soon as possible. Sample Rejection Criteria: Plasma, clotted sample, unlabeled or samples of non sufficient quantity. |
