Specimen Handling

Collection Instructions: Cerebrospinal Fluid (CSF) collected in red top vacutainer or sterile orange cap container. Indicate source of fluid

Write your initials, date and time of collection on the collection label.

Laboratory Staff Instructions: Centrifuge and remove supernatant within 4 hours of collection. Refrigerate at 2-8°C if specimen will not be analyzed within 4 hours. Freeze at or below -18°C if testing will be delayed 48 hours.

Stability: Stable at room temperature for4 hours, refrigerated for 3 days and frozen at -15 to -20°C OR colder for 6 months.
