Specimen HandlingCollection Instructions: Collect sample in gold top (SST) or heparinized green or lavender tube. Write your initials, date and time of collection on the collection label. Laboratory Staff Instructions: Centrifuge and seperate from cells as soon as possible. Rejection Criteria: Unlabeled or samples of non sufficient quantity. Avoid repeat freeze/Thaw cycles. Stability: Procalcitonin is stable at room temperature up to 8 hours; at 2-8°C for 2 days or at ≤-20°C for longer periods of time. Transportation: Send sample to core lab as soon as possible. |
