Specimen HandlingCollection Instructions: Collect samples in heparinized tubes. Write your initials, date and time of collection on the collection label or requisition. Laboratory Staff Instructions: Give PLHGB sample to Hematology FLOAT bench. Float bench will seperate from cells and give plasma specimen and sendout requisition to sendout bench or central receiving technician. Send with ice pack to Sick Kids Core Lab as soon as possible. Rejection Criteria: Gross hemolysis, unlabeled or samples of non sufficient quantity. Stability: Stable frozen for > 1 week. Transportation: Send sample on ice to core lab as soon as possible. |
