Specimen HandlingCollection Instructions: Collect sample in EDTA tube. Protect specimen from light at all times during collection and processing. Sample should be well mixed at time of collection to prevent platelet clumping. Write your initials, date and time of collection on the collection label. Laboratory Staff Instructions: Whold blood. Do NOT spin sample. Specimen must be labelled inside and outside light-protecting wrap. Hematocrit must be provided to allow calculation ofresult. Stability: Transportation: Transport at room temperature within 1 hour of collection. Sample Rejection Criteria:Lipemic, Not protected from light, unlabeled inside/outside light cover sheet, or samples of non sufficient quantity. |
