Container Type = Gold (SST)

Minimum Testing Volume = 1 mL Serum

Tube must fill to at least ½ or greater of its vacuum capacity

Specimen Handling

Collection Instructions: Serum collected preferably in red top vacutainer without gel separator. If serum is collected in gold top vacutainer with gel separator, transfer serum to an aliquot tube as soon as possible after centrifugation. The pre-dose or through sample is collected before administration of the next dose. Therapeutic drug monitoring of Primidone should always include measurement of its major metabolite Phenobarbital.

Write your initials, date and time of collection on the collection label.

Stability: Stable for 2 days at room temperature, 2 weeks refrigerated at 2-80C and frozen at -15 to 25°C for 1 month. .

Transportation: Transport at room temperature ASAP.

Laboratory Staff Instructions: Centrifuged and never opened prior to analysis provides the best sample integrity. When samples are transferred to an aliquot tube, exposure of the sample to air must be minimal to prevent evaporation of the alcohols.

Sample Rejection Criteria: Unlabeled and/or Non sufficient Quantity (Not Sufficient Quantity)
