Specimen HandlingCollection Instructions: Serum collected in gold or red top vacutainer with or without gel separator. Avoid hemolysis. Erythrocytes contain proteases which degrade osteocalcin. Write your initials, date and time of collection on the collection label or requisition. Laboratory Staff Instructions: Centrifuge within 1 hour of collection and separate serum or plasma from cells immediately after centrifugation. Rejection Criteria: Grossly hemolyzed, Unlabeled or Not Sufficient Quantity Samples will be rejected. Stability: Stable for 8 hours at room temperature, 3 days at 2-8°C and frozen at -20°C for 3 months. Transportation: Send sample to core lab as soon as possible. |
