Specimen HandlingCollection Instructions: Collect specimen in red or gold top tube. Serum is preferred but green Top (Li Heparin) is acceptable. This test includes Prolactin. Write your initials, date and time of collection on the collection label. Laboratory Staff Instructions: Separate serum or plasma from cells within 2 hours of collection. Thaw only once. Stability: Stable at room temperature for 8 hours, refrigerated for 2 days, or frozen at -20°C or below for up to four months before testing. Thaw only once. Transportation: In-house: Transport at room temperature ASAP. Referred-in: Store and send specimens frozen to SMH core lab. Sample Rejection Criteria: Unlabeled or specimen of non sufficient quantity. Avoid multiple freeze - thaw cycles. |
