Lavender Tube Specimen Type / Requirements

Container Type = 1 Lavender

Minimum Testing Volume = 0.6mL Plasma (EDTA)

Tubes must fill to at least ½ or greater of its vacuum capacity

Specimen Handling

Collection Instructions: Collect fasting samples. The patient must abstain from smoking tobacco for at least 4 hours prior to collection. To minimize false positives, patients should be resting in the supine position for 15 minutes before and during collection. Write your initials, date and time of collection on the collection label.

Laboratory Staff Instructions: Samples should be centrifuged and separated from cells as soon as possible. Stored frozen at -20C or lower until time of analysis.

The aliquot plasma sample should be stored in Special Chemistry’s freezer #3 (blue rack).

Stability: Stable refrigerated for 14 days and frozen at -20 or lower for up to 1 year.

Rejection Criteria: Serum, unlabeled or samples of non sufficient quantity.

Transportation: Send sample to core lab as soon as possible.
