Specimen HandlingCollection Instructions: Collect sample in gold top (SST) or Lavender top (EDTA). Ensure both sample and requisition are labelled properly. 14-16 hours fasting sample prefered. Write your initials, date and time of collection on the collection label. Laboratory Staff Instructions: Spin samples as soon as possible. Stability: Spun samples can be kept at 2-8°C for up to 7 days after collection. Transportation: Transport at room temperature ASAP. Place on ice if time of collection to time sample get to lab exceeds 2hrs. Sample Rejection Criteria: Unlabeled or not sufficient quantity. (i) Samples that are thawed for more than 48hrs. |
