Specimen HandlingCollection Instructions: Specimens are submitted in small plastic bags after they have been strained through a filter, dried and transferred to the small plastic bag. Samples are returned by mail or dropped off at the Lithotripsy Clinic and sent to the laboratory with other specimens. Samples obtained during surgery or from other laboratories are submitted in sterile urine containers. All samples are accompanied by a completed yellow ‘Stone Analysis’ requisition or a routine biochemistry requisition. Ensure that sample and requisition are properly labelled. Write your initials, date and time of collection on the collection label. Laboratory Staff Instructions Enter order in LIS and place in 'Stones' bucket in walk-in fridge. Transportation: Send sample to core lab as soon as possible. |
