Specimen Type / RequirementsContainer Type = 1 Red top or Lavender top. Minimum Testing Volume = 2mL Serum or Plasma (EDTA) Tubes must fill to at least ½ or greater of its vacuum capacity |

Specimen HandlingCollection Instructions: Collect fasting specimen. Pre-chill tube at 4°C before drawing the specimen. Draw into the pre-chilled tube, and then chill tube in wet ice for 10 minutes. Write your initials, date and time of collection on the collection label. Laboratory Staff Instructions: Maintain at 4°C up to 6 hours prior to separation. Submit two specimens (minimum 1 mL each). Store and send frozen. Rejection Criteria: Unlabeled or samples of non sufficient quantity. Stability: Stable refrigerated for 24 hours and Frozen for 2 months. Transportation: Send sample to core lab as soon as possible. |
