Gold Tube Specimen Type / Requirements

Container Type = Gold (SST)

Minimum Testing Volume = 1ml Serum

Tube must fill to at least ½ or greater of its vacuum capacity

Specimen Handling

Collection Instructions: Fasting serum is recommended, collected with or without gel separator. Separate serum from cells within 2 hours of collection. Insulin collected as EDTA plasma is also acceptable, but serum and plasma must NOT be used interchangeably. Ensure residual fibrin and cellular matter is removed prior to analysis. Do not use grossly hemolyzed samples, as hemolysis releases enzymes which degrade insulin.

Transportation: Transport at room temperature ASAP.

Sample Rejection Criteria: Multiple freeze/thaw unacceptable,Groosly hemolyzed specimen, unlabeled or speciens of non suffecient quantify.

Stability: Room temperature (15 to 30°C) for 24 hours, refrigerate at 2 – 8°C for 14 days, and frozen at -20°C for 6 month.
