Specimen HandlingCollection Instructions: Collect specimens in either a red, gold, lavender, or green top tube. Both serum and EDTA or lithium heparin plasma are acceptable specimen types. Remember to write your initials, date, and time of collection on the label. Laboratory Staff Instructions Spin sample using cold centrifuge, separate from cells within 2 hours of collection. Store in bottom self in chemistry's -80 freezer by tox. Rejection Criteria: Unlabeled or samples of non sufficient quantity. Stability:Stable for 24 hours at 15-25°C, 48 hours at 2-8°C, and 28 days at -20 °C (±) 5°C. Specimen can be thawed and refreezed up to 3 times. Transportation: Send sample on ice to core lab as soon as possible. |
