Lavender Tube Microtainer Tube Specimen Type / Requirements

Container Type = Lavender

Minimum Venous Volume (Lavender) = 2mL whole blood (EDTA)

Pediatric: = 500µL whole blood (Pink Microtainer tube).

Specimen Handling

Collection Instructions: Collect sample in a lavender top and send to core lab.Specimens should be collected Monday to Thursday only. Samples collected on Friday, weekends and holidays will be cancelled and a new sample must be requested on next business day. Sample should be well mixed at time of collection to prevent platelet clumping. Write your initials, date and time of collection on the collection label.

Stability: 24 -48 hours at room temperature

Transportation: Send specimen in room temperature with flow cytometry or hematology requisition to Core lab

Sample Rejection Criteria: Plasma, clotted sample, unlabeled or samples of non sufficient quantity.
