Specimen HandlingCollection Instructions: Collect sample in a lavender top and send to core lab. Sample should be well mixed at time of collection to prevent platelet clumping. Fasting specimen preferred. Write your initials, date and time of collection on the collection label. Stability: Stable at ambient temperature for 4 hours; refrigerated at 2-8°C for 28 days; and frozen at or below -20° for up to 10 months. Freeze samples only once and mix thoroughly after thawing Laboratory Staff Instructions: Ambient sample: Separate plasma from cells within 1h of collection. Transportation: Send sample on ice to Core Lab within 1 hour of collection. Sample Rejection Criteria: Plasma, clotted sample, Grossly hemolyzed samples, Unlabeled or Not Sufficient Quantity Samples will be rejected. |
