Gold Tube Specimen Type / Requirements

Container Type = Gold (SST)

Minimum Testing Volume = 1ml Serum

Tube must fill to at least ½ or greater of its vacuum capacity

Specimen Handling

Collection Instructions: Collect sample in gold top (SST) container. Heparinized plasma are also acceptable. Write your initials, date and time of collection on the collection label

Stability: Stable at room temperature for 8 hours, refrigerated for 48 hours, or frozen at -20oC for 2 months.

Transportation: Transport at room temperature ASAP.

Spin sample time of collection to time sample get to lab exceeds 2hrs

Laboratory Staff Instructions: Let sample clot adequately at room temperature before centrifugation. Separate serum or plasma from cells within 2 hours of collection. .

Sample Rejection Criteria: Groosly hemolyzed specimen, Unlabeled or Not Sufficient Quantity samples will be rejected. Thaw samples no more than two times
