Specimen HandlingCollection Instructions: Collect sample in Grey top Container, free from hemolysis. Patient must be fasting for at least 12 hours. 1st Fasting blood specimen is taken, Patient given 75g glucose drink soon after, 2nd blood specimen is drawn 1hr post consumption, 3rd blood is drawn at 2hr post consumption, and 4th blood specimen is drawn 3hrs post consumptions). Write your initials, date and time of collection on the collection label.Stability: Stable at room temperature for 8 hours and 3 days refrigerated at 2-8°C. Transportation: Transport at room temperature ASAP. Laboratory Staff Instructions: Spin sample as soon as possible. Sample Rejection Criteria: Grossly hemolyzed samples, inlabelled or Not Sufficient Quantity samples will be rejected |
