Specimen Handling

Collection Instructions: Ensure both sample and requisition are labelled properly. The sample should not come into contact with glass since fFN binds to glass. Write your initials, date and time of collection on the collection label. Specimens that arrive at the lab must be accompanied with a completed and signed Fetal Fibronectin Request Form (See required documentation)

Laboratory Staff Instructions Specimens should be analyzed as soon as possible after collection. Do not proceed with testing if the FFN requisition is not completed and authorized.

Rejection Criteria: Avoid degradation of analyte. Subject sample to single freeze-thaw cycle only.

Stability: Sample can be stored for up to 3 days at 2-8ÂșC and 3 months in the freezer.

Transportation: Send sample to core lab as soon as possible.
