Specimen HandlingCollection Instructions: Collect specimen in gold , red or green top. Test can be done on serum or plasma (heparin). Write your initials, date and time of collection on the collection label. Laboratory Staff Instructions: Separate serum or plasma from cells within 2 hours of collection. Stability: stable for 8hrs at room temperature, 48hrs refrigerated and 6 months frozen. Transportation: Send specimens to corelab at room temperature. For outpatient clinics, spin if sample time of collection to time sample gets to lab exceeds 2hrs. Sample Rejection Criteria: Multiple freeze/thaw unacceptable, unlabeled or samples of non sufficient quantity. |
