Gold Tube Specimen Type / Requirements

Container Type = 1 Gold Top (SST)

Recommended volume = 1.0 mL serum

Minimum volume = 450 uL serum

Tubes must fill to at least ½ or greater of its vacuum capacity

Specimen Handling

Collection Instructions: Collect sample in gold top tube (SST). Write your initials, date and time of collection on the collection label.

Laboratory Staff Instructions Centrifuge and separate serum from cells within 2hrs of collection. Store frozen in -30C freezer near seperation bench.

Rejection Criteria Gross hemolysis, unlabeled or specimen of non sufficient quantity.

Stability: Refrigerated: 7 days, frozen: 3 months, stable up to 6 freeze/thaws

Sample Rejection Criteria: Unlabeled or specimen of non sufficient quantity.
