Specimen HandlingCollection Instructions: Collect sample in red top tube. Avoid gold top (SST). To obtain steady-state serum digoxin concentrations, blood samples should be drawn 6–8 hours after the daily dose or just prior to the next scheduled dose. Write your initials, date and time of collection on the collection label or requisition. Laboratory Staff Instructions Separate samples from cells within 2hrs of collection. Rejection Criteria: Unlabeled or samples of non sufficient quantity. Stability: Stable at room temperature for 8hr, at 2°C-8°C for 2 days, and for 1 month at -15°C to -20°C .Thaw samples once only. Transportation: Send sample to core lab as soon as possible. |
