Lavender Tube Specimen Type / Requirements

Container Type = Lavender (EDTA)

Minimum Testing Volume = 2mL Whole Blood

Tube should be fill to at least ½ or greater of its vacuum capacity

Specimen Handling

Collection Instructions: Collect sample in lavender top (EDTA) just before the next dose is administered. Provide time of dose and time of collection.

Write your initials, date and time of collection on the collection label.

Stability: Stable for up to 5 days at 15-25C or 7 days at 2-8◦C or frozen at -20°C or lower for up to 6 months.

Transportation: Transport at room temperature ASAP.

Laboratory Staff Instructions: Specimens must be mixed thoroughly after thawing and before testing to ensure consistency of results

Sample Rejection Criteria: Serum, plasma or clotted specimens unacceptable. Specimens left at room temperature for >24h.
