Specimen HandlingCollection Instructions: Serum or heparinized plasma free from hemolysis, collected with or without gel separator. Plasma samples may occasionally produce unpredictable rate reactions resulting in false low results. Write your initials, date and time of collection on the collection label or requisition. Laboratory Staff Instructions: Allow specimen to clot completely at room temperature. Remove serum or plasma from cells ASAP to minimize hemolysis and contamination by adenylate kinase from the red cells Rejection Criteria: Gross hemolysis, Unlabeled or Not Sufficient Quantity samples will be rejected. Stability: Stable at room temperature for 48 hours, refrigerated for 1 week and frozen for 1 month Transportation: Send sample to core lab as soon as possible. |
