Specimen HandlingCollection Instructions: 24h urine collected in container without preservative. Ensure collection bottle is labelled correctly. Keep the collected urine refrigerated if possible and return to lab ASAP. Write your "start" and "end" date and time of collection on the collection label or requisition. Stability: Sample is stable at room temperature for 1 week, refrigerated for 1 week and frozen at -15 to -20°C for 3 months. Transportation: Transport at room temperature ASAP. Place on ice if time of collection to time sample get to lab exceeds 2hrs Laboratory Staff Instructions: Mix well, measure total 24h volume and record in LIS. If necessary, centrifuge precipitates prior to extraction. |
