Lavender Tube Specimen Type / Requirements

Container Type = 2 Lavender Top Tubes (EDTA)

Minimum Testing Volume = 4 mL plasma

Tube must fill to at least ½ or greater of its vacuum capacity

Specimen Handling

Collection Instructions: Collect sample in lavender top (EDTA). Abstain from proton pump inhibitor medication for two weeks prior to collection. Write your initials, date and time of collection on the collection label.

Laboratory Staff Instructions Separate plasma from cells as soon as possible. Store and send frozen.

Rejection Criteria: Grossly hemolyzed, lipemic, Unlabeled or Not Sufficient Quantity samples will be rejected. Avoid multiple freeze-thaw.

Stability: Stable frozen for 6 months.

Transportation: Send sample in ice to core lab as soon as possible.
