Specimen HandlingCollection Instructions: Body fluid collected in red top vacutainer or sterile urine container. Indicate source of fluid. Ensure both sample and requisition are labelled properly. Write your initials, date and time of collection on the collection label or requisition. Special Instructions Centrifuge to remove cellular material. Rejection Criteria: Unlabeled or Not Sufficient Quantity samples might be rejected. Stability: Cholesterol is stable at room temperature for 1 week, refrigerated for 1 week and for 3 months frozen at -15 to -20°C and years at -70°C. Transportation: Send sample to core lab as soon as possible. |
