Specimen HandlingCollection Instructions: Serum or heparinized/EDTA plasma samples, free from hemolysis, collected with or without gel separator.Cholesterol is not affected by non-fasting state except if the sample is lipemic. Write your initials, date and time of collection on the collection label or requisition. Special Instructions Separate serum or plasma from cells within 2 hours of collection Rejection Criteria: Gross hemolysis, lipemic Unlabeled or Not Sufficient Quantity Samples will be rejected. Stability: Cholesterol is stable at room temperature for 1 week, refrigerated for 1 week and for 3 months frozen at -15 to -20°C and years at -70°C. Transportation: Send sample to core lab as soon as possible. |
