Celiac Screen (Anti-Endomysial Antibodies,Deamidated Gliadin Antibodies, Tissue Transglutaminase Antibodies, Gliadin Antibodies)

Gold Tube Specimen Type / Requirements

Container Type = 1 Gold Top (SST)

Minimum Testing Volume = 1 ml serum

Tube must fill to at least ½ or greater of its vacuum capacity

Specimen Handling

Collection Instructions:

Serum collected with or without gel separator. Write your initials, date and time of collection on the collection label or requisition.

Celiac Disease profile testing algorithm:
. When anti-TTG IgA (anti-tissue transglutaminase IgA) is ordered, Total IgA will also be tested.
. If age <=2 years, anti-DGP IgG and anti-DGP IgA will be tested.
. If age >2 years, AND Total IgA is low (less than reference range), then anti-TTG IgG and anti-DGP IgG will be tested.

Lab Staff instructions Sample may be stored at room temperature for no longer than 8 hours. If the assay will not be completed within 8 hours, refrigerate the sample at 2-8˚C. If the assay will not be completed within 48 hours, freeze the sample at -20˚C or lower. Frozen specimens must be mixed well after thawing and prior to testing.

Rejection Criteria: Gross hemolysis, unlabeled or samples of non sufficient quantity.

Stability: Stable for 8h at room temperature, refrigerated 8 days and frozen 1 year (if frozen within 24h)

Transportation: Send sample to core lab as soon as possible.

Anti-DGP antibody IgG:

Negative: < 25 RU/mL
Weak Positive: 25-30 RU/mL
Moderate to Strong Positive: >30 RU/mL
