Specimen HandlingCollection Instructions: Collect Sample in pre-chilled lavender top. Patient must be supine for at least 30 minutes prior to and during specimen collection. Collect after overnight fast (water and non-caffeinated drinks permissible). Catechol drugs may interfere, including alpha methyldopa, alpha-methyl-para-tyrosine, isoproteronal, dobutamine and carbidopa. Provide list of medications. Write your initials, date and time of collection on the collection label. Laboratory Staff Instructions Specimen should be kept cold and spun in a cold centrifuge as soon as possible, within 60 minutes of collection. Freeze immediately. If the specimen thaws, it is unsuitable for analysis Stability: Stable frozen for one week. Rejection Criteria: Serum, unlabeled, not-frozen or sample of non sufficient quantily. Transportation: Send sample to core lab as soon as possible. |
