Specimen HandlingCollection Instructions: Collect sample in gold top tube. Wrap sample is foil paper. Ensure sample is labeled from both in and outside the foil paper. Ensure both sample and requisition are labelled properly. Write your initials, date and time of collection on the collection label Laboratory Staff Instructions: Protect from light in amber transfer vial. Store and send frozen. Let sample clot adequately at room temperature before centrifugation. Separate serum from cells within 2 hours of collection. Store and send frozen. Sample Rejection Criteria: Visible hemolysis, not protected from light, unlabeled or samples of non sufficient quantity. Transportation: Transport at room temperature ASAP. |
