Specimen HandlingCollection Instructions: Collect sample in a sterile container. The preferred urine specimen especially for macroscopic analysis is a well-mixed first morning “mid-stream”. This is the most concentrated specimen and is most likely to reveal abnormalities. Random urine specimens may be used. Write your initials, date and time of collection on the collection label or requisition. Special Instructions Transfer aliquots in polypropylene tubes. Centrifuge urine sample before analysis. The sample should be within the normal physiological pH range of 5-8. Rejection Criteria: Unlabeled, Leaky or Not Sufficient Quantity Samples will be rejected. Stability: Stable at room temperature for 7 days, refrigerated for 28 days, and frozen for 28 days. Transportation: Send sample to core lab as soon as possible. |
