Specimen HandlingCollection Instructions: Collect sample in red or gold top with or without gel separator. Fasting specimen preferred but not mandatory. Place sample on ice immediately after collection and send to corelab as soon as possible. Write your initials, date and time of collection on the collection label. Laboratory Staff Instructions Spin in cold refrigerated centrifuge and separate from cells within 2 hours of collection. Store and send frozen. Rejection Criteria: Grossly hemolyzed, lipemic or microbially contaminated specimens, unlabeled or samples of non sufficient quantity. Stability: Calcitonin is stable at room temperature for 8 hours, refrigerated for 15 Days and frozen at -20C or colder for 90days. Thaw samples only once. Transportation: Place sample on ice immediately after collection and send to corelab as soon as possible. |
