Specimen HandlingCollection Instructions: 24h urine collected in metal-free container without preservative and kept refrigerated or on ice during collection. Ensure collection bottle is labelled correctly. Keep the collected urine refrigerated if possible and return to lab ASAP. Write your "start" and "end" date and time of collection on the collection label or requisition. Avoid mineral supplements for 5 days. Stability: Stable at Room Temperature: 1 day. Refrigerated: 3 months. Frozen: 1 year. Sample Rejection Criteria: Urine collected with acid / alkaline or leaking specimen will be rejected. Transportation: Send sample to SMH core lab as soon as possible. |
