Gold Tube Specimen Type / Requirements

Container Type = 1 Gold Top (SST)

Minimum Testing Volume = 2 ml serum

Tube must fill to at least ½ or greater of its vacuum capacity

Specimen Handling

Collection Instructions: Collect sample in gold top (SST) tube. Write your initials, date and time of collection on the collection label.

Special Instructions: Specimen must be labelled properly. Sperate as soon and possible and send refrigrated

Rejection Criteria: Grossly hemolyzed, lipemic, Unlabeled or Not Sufficient Quantity Samples will be rejected. Avoid repeat freeze/Thaw cycles.

Stability: Stable at room temperature for 8 hours, refrigerated for 48 hours at 2-8°C and frozen at or below -20°C for more than 48 hours.

Transportation: Send sample to core lab as soon as possible.
