Gold Tube Specimen Type / Requirements

Container Type = 1 Gold Top (SST)

Minimum Testing Volume = 1 ml serum

Tube must fill to at least ½ or greater of its vacuum capacity

Specimen Handling

Collection Instructions: Serum can be obtained from an SST gold tube. Following collection, serum should be separated from the clot, following centrifugation. Store samples at room temperature no longer than 8 hours. If the assay will not be completed within 8 hours, or for shipment of the sample, freeze at -20°C or lower. Write your initials, date and time of collection on the collection label.

Special Instructions Frozen specimens must be thawed at room temperature and mixed well prior to testing.

Rejection Criteria: Gross hemolysis, lipemic or icteric serum, Unlabeled or Not Sufficient Quantity Samples will be rejected.

Stability: Stable at roomtemperature for 8hr, refrigerated at 2 to 8°C and frozen at -15 to -20°C for 1 week.

Transportation: Send sample to core lab as soon as possible.
