Gold Tube Specimen Type / Requirements

Container Type = 1 Gold Top (SST)

Minimum Testing Volume = 2mL serum

Tube must fill to at least ½ or greater of its vacuum capacity

Specimen Handling

Collection Instructions: Collect sample in gold (SST) or red top tube. Specify allergic test from the List of Allergens that may also be used as a requisition. Patient to pay at cash office prior to blood collection. Write your initials, date and time of collection on the collection label.

Laboratory Staff Instructions Enter requested test allergens in comment. Separate from cells within 2 hours of collection. Store and send frozen. Ensure specific allergen type is provided before sending sample. DO Not confuse with Aspergillus fumigatus IgG Antibodies

Rejection Criteria: Multiple freeze/thaw unacceptable, unlabeled or samples of non sufficient quantity.

Stability: Stable refrigerated 3 days, Frozen for 6 Months.

Transportation: Send sample to core lab as soon as possible.
