Specimen HandlingCollection Instructions: Collect fasting specimen in a green (Lithium Heparin) tube. Specimen must be kept cold at all times following draw. Write your initials, date and time of collection on the collection label. Laboratory Staff Instructions: Spin in a refrigerated centrifuge. Separate plasma from cells and freeze within 1 hour of collection. Store and send frozen. If the specimen thaws it is unsuitable for analysis. Rejection Criteria: Not frozen, unlabeled or samples of non sufficient quantity. Stability: Stable frozen for 30 days. Transportation: Transport on ice to core lab as soon as possible. |
