Specimen Handling Collection Instructions: Ensure both sample and requisition are labelled properly Serum or plasma, free from hemolysis, collected with or without gel separator. Write your initials, date and time of collection on the collection label. Laboratory Staff Instructions: Lipemic samples or frozen samples that become turbid upon thawing must be clarified by centrifugation (10 minutes at 15,000 x g). Separate serum or plasma from cells within 2 hours of collection. Thaw only once. Stability: Stable at room temperature for 1 day, refrigerated for 8 days, frozen for 3 months (– 20°C) or 5 years (– 70°C). Thaw only once. Transportation: Transport at room temperature ASAP. Sample Rejection Criteria: Unlabeled or Not Sufficient Quantity samples will be rejected.
